Division Information
Kenworth Truck Company is the manufacturer of The World’s Best® heavy and medium duty trucks. Kenworth is an industry leader in providing fuel-saving technology solutions that help increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. The company’s dedication to the green fleet includes aerodynamic trucks, compressed and liquefied natural gas trucks, and medium duty diesel-electric hybrids.
Here's what you will do in this role:
• Participate in the design and development of truck programs.
• Utilize Creo/Pro-E to create optimized part and assembly of moderate to complex designs requiring independent judgment.
• Work with internal and external organizations to validate the designs.
• Utilize PACCAR and industry systems to manage the product implementation process, track costs, and support new product introductions.
• Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
- 5-7+ years of experience in product design and development required, experience in heavy-duty vehicles or automotive structures/interiors preferred
- Proven ability to lead engineering projects from concept through production, managing scope, timing, and deliverables
- Strong expertise in cab structures, interiors, and multi-system integration, including structural components, packaging, and interface design
- Proficient in CAD tools (Creo/Pro-E preferred) with solid understanding of materials, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes (stamping, plastics, trim systems)
- Demonstrated ability to drive system-level design decisions impacting fit & finish, durability, and overall product performance
- Lead cross-functional teams (manufacturing, validation, suppliers) to execute projects and resolve issues related to quality, durability, and integration
- Drive engineering solutions from concept through production to ensure successful product launch and implementation
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently under limited direction and manage complex technical challenges
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or higher) or equivalent DFSS experience; demonstrated application of structured problem-solving methodologies to improve quality and performance
- Effective communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions and divisions; serves as a technical resource and mentor to other
Preferred: P.E. license (or in progress), experience supporting product launches, customer interactions, and supplier integration.

The salary range for Project Engineer - Sustaining Structures and Interiors is $104,100 - $162,900 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
