PACCAR Silicon Valley Innovation Center

The new PACCAR Silicon Valley Innovation Center, located in Sunnyvale California, will focus on identifying and advancing emerging technology research and development for all of PACCAR’s businesses. 

The PACCAR Silicon Valley Innovation Center is looking for an ambitious and self-directed Senior Software Developer! If you have a proven track record of excellence, we are looking for you!

Job Functions / Responsibilities

• Participate in team design of instrumentation, driver information, operator controls, and other truck cab or chassis features requiring electronic functionality.
• Keep abreast of emerging industry trends in the field of commercial vehicle embedded software development and technology.
• Develop solutions compatible with existing applications. 
• Derive and document system requirements for software, electronics, sensors, actuators, human to machine interface (HMI), and vehicle network messaging to achieve targeted functional enhancements. 
• Develop solutions with cross-divisional counterparts on global design direction.
• Develop or enhance complete functional models for vehicle software features using Matlab/Simulink.
• Develop high-level visual software elements to support delivery of new features.
• Communicate requirements to other functional teams as needed to assure reliability and quality.
• Coordinate with software validation team to certify software and process parameters to meet specifications.
• Manage processes to maintain schedule, budget, and functionality.
• Collect and track truck functionality requirements. 

 

Skills / Competencies


• BSEE, BSECE or equivalent degree required in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline preferred.
• Master’s degree highly preferred. 
• Experience in programming using model-based software design tools for embedded real-time systems. 
• Experience with automotive or commercial vehicle networks, such as CAN, SAE J1939 and LIN.
• 7+ years design & release of automotive or commercial vehicle real-time embedded software systems, controls, and/or HMI preferred.
• Familiarity with Agile software development processes.
• Experience desired using IBM Rational DOORS, IBM Rational Rhapsody, IBM Rational Team Concert, Sparx Enterprise Architect, HP Quality Center, or other such continuous engineering or development lifecycle management tools.
• Willing to learn and use new engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
• Experience in product development. 
• Able to work in a team environment.
• Familiarity with personal computer software including project management tools, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Results oriented and a willingness to grow personally and professionally.
