Requisition Summary

 

 

We seek an experienced, qualified applicant for position of Technical Project Manager who will be a part of Kenworth Research and Development Center and work closely with Kenworth Engineering and the PACCAR Technical Center. R&D at Kenworth is a demanding and multi-faceted environment where you will support the process of assembling the entire vehicle from design to field test.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing specific aspects of R&D projects, creating technical documents, conveying complex information in a clear and concise manner and work with R&D Center staff to ensure accuracy of product descriptions and drawing depictions.  This is an exciting opportunity to contribute and build excellent heavy-duty truck concepts and prototypes.

Technical Project Manager, besides managing vehicle planning and build activities, will manage project budgets and schedules; host meetings; generate and publish status reports to multiple audiences, manage and prioritize activities with external team members and produce documentation for management presentations.  The assignment has a strong focus, but is not limited to, the design and management of vehicle related software and controls systems.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

  • Manage project level budgets and schedules.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports to external and internal audiences.
  • Plan, develop, organize and generate operational procedures and manuals.
  • Create process instructions from verbal or written instruction.
  • Research, develop and document technical design specifications and test procedures.
  • Manage and prioritize project tasks against competing outside influences.
  • Manage updates and revisions to technical literature.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

 

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ industry experience, with at least two (2) years in Program Management and/or as a Technical Lead.
  • Flexibility of hours to support business requirements and ability to travel.

 

 

PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

 

 

  • Strong technical background required to function and convey intent of system design changes.
  • Fluent in Microsoft applications such as: Project, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of MatLab Simulink and Embedded C Programming and Scripting.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle systems and architecture.
  • Working knowledge of engineering and manufacturing design practices.
