Requisition Summary

Manage the inventory planning/control, purchasing, and scheduling and PFEP functions at the plant level.  Oversee order placement and supplier management for all material.   Design, develop, direct, and implement processes and systems to insure uninterrupted material flow with adequate financial/process control.   Assure that processes support North American Materials/Plant/Division/Corporate coordination in areas such as New Product Implementation, Surplus and Obsolete declaration, supplier management and PFEP are well defined and supported.  Maintain a constructive business relationship with the supply base; negotiate quality and delivery issues.

The ideal candidate is one that is proactive in working with suppliers, and production to ensure material availability, premium freight, S & O, and inventory turn goals are met. Candidate must be proficient in linking multiple data sources across Excel, Access and SQL applications for the purpose of measuring and managing Material Availability, S&O, Inventory Turns and Supplier Performance metrics. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Establish performance standards and objectives for the department that support overall operating objectives.
  • Manage the supply base to meet requirement dates and inventory objectives.  Coordinate with Division to assure that inventories are controlled and surplus and obsolete material is minimized. 
  • Contact suppliers directly to expedite closure of major supplier quality and delivery issues. 
  • Negotiate packaging issues to resolution
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and develop strategic plans to improve organizational performance in alignment with North American Materials.
  • Coordinate with other departments and Division staff to assure that New Product implementations and process improvements supported with no impact on plant operations.
  • Provide proactive assessments of current and future material flow issues; plan to resolve.
  • Establish and monitor procedures to ensure proper scheduling of customer requirements within the scheduling parameters provided by each plant.
  • Establish and administer employee training and development plans.
  • Formulate department budget for management approval and manage ongoing department expenditures to meet budget targets.

Desirable Qualifications

  • At least five years supervisory or managerial experience and five years of experience

       within Materials, preferably two of those years within PACCAR

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including ability to write effective memos, letters, and electronic communication.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Familiarity with personal computers, and mainframe transaction environments.
  • Negotiation skills including conflict management and mediation.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Materials Management, Operations, or related field preferred
  • SAP Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) training strongly desired
  • Six Sigma training desired
  • Tableau, SQL, SSMS, COPICS, VOG and PCMS training is a plus
