Division Information

PACCAR’s Information Technology Division (ITD), located in Renton, WA utilizes cutting-edge technology to provide systems development, consulting, voice and data communications services to the entire Corporation, which has high visibility in the technology sector.

Requisition Summary

This position works with multiple stakeholders and partners across PACCAR to analyze business requirements and develop the global network strategy and technology roadmap. This positions responsibility include designing and implementing PACCAR’s global networks meeting design criteria in a cost effective, secure and maintainable manner.  Supports multiple systems through maintenance, modification, optimization and tier 3 problem resolution. This position coordinates resources across various teams to deliver network projects globally. The Senior Network Engineer works closely with other Engineering leads in the broader Global Technology & Operations (GT&O) organization as well as Security Operations organization to provide end-to-end solutions for our business partners. This position requires a broad knowledge across network, compute platforms, cloud, telephone, Unified Communications, and security disciplines.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated technical expertise in domain of network, performance and security technologies, which will be supplemented with DevOps automation experience.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the department’s technical vision and strategy for PACCAR’s networks including WAN/LAN, Wireless/Mobility, Unified Communications, and SAN.

  • Implement automation to streamline all aspects of network management including processes, provisioning, performance, and notification.  

  • Lead and expand global strategies to implement new technologies based on developed vision.

  • Present new and emerging technologies to management through vendor presentations and/or personal experiences, which provide financial benefit or increase productivity.

  • Leads and work with peers in cross-functional global teams.

  • Promotes cross functional training and development for network engineers.

  • Mentors team members and the 24X7 Enterprise Command Center team to effectively troubleshoot network related problems.

  • Develops PACCAR network standards and publish RFCs as requested.

  • 3rd level support on PACCAR’s network infrastructure and its peripheral equipment. Document network problems and resolution for future reference and automate to reduce support.

  • Up to 25% travel.


  • 10+ years of professional Networking Technology experience at an enterprise level; 7+ years of hands-on networking Engineer (Cisco, Proxies, Firewalls, Load Balancers, WAN Optimization)

  • Knowledge of Virtual Networking Products like Cisco DNA, Cisco ACI, SDDC, SD-WAN and premised based and Cloud based networking and security solutions.

  • Knowledge of Cloud Apps, Cloud technologies & ecosystems, mainly AWS and Azure

  • Experience with Red Hat Ansible and DevOps environments.

  • Experience with IPv6 migration   

  • Proven track record in the design of secure enterprise level networks.

  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP applications and protocols, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, STP.

  • Experience with IPSEC and SSL based VPN equipment.

  • Strong knowledge of IP switched storage networks.

  • Experience with converge network LAN/SAN/SDN desired. 

  • Palo Alto Firewall and F5 GigIP Load balancer administration experience is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and Microsoft Azure DevOps environment.

  • Recent experience leading a project delivering some aspect of segmentation on a large scale environment spanning both data center and wide area networks

  • Understanding of current and emerging wireless network technology in an enterprise setting.

  • Knowledge in security including authentication and encryption protocols.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation) and strong analytical abilities.

  • Ability to exert influence, gain consensus and broker solutions between senior leaders.

  • Cisco Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or CISSP desired.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field

  • Masters or MBA are desired
