Requisition Summary

Provide support to the Human Resources department in administering Safety & Health processes and programs for internal/external customers. Will serve as a contact for Safety/Health department, manage pieces of the health & safety programs, employee on-boarding process, and participate in executing department initiatives and projects.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Manage the Safety & Health lobby: greet visitors in a professional and courteous manner, provide support and customer service to employees regarding various topics. Utilize problem-solving techniques when necessary to research employee questions.
  • Escort visitors through the plant safely to the medical center from the lobby.
  • Assist the plant nurse in the triage and prioritization of medical center visitors’ needs including basic first aid support.
  • Assist the plant nurse in the execution of post-offer contingency processes, drug-testing collection, and various on-boarding activities.
  • Assists in plant safety program, including compiling accident statistics, maintaining injury/illness logs, and occasional communication with external medical facilities and personnel as part of the disability management process.
  • Administer the department’s supply inventory, placing orders, verifying the receipt of office and medical supplies, and maintain various records.  Contact vendors as necessary. 
  • Play an active role in promoting positive employee relations and engagement by coordinating employee appreciation programs and events.
  • Participate in executing departmental goals and objectives.
  • Maintain employee records with various systems, employee personnel files, employee medical files, worker’s compensation claim details, etc. 
  • Be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Must be reliable with dependable and regular attendance
  • Other administrative tasks as assigned.  May also provide support to Human Resources, Training & Development, and the Management team.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience and/or evidence of continuing education in Occupational Health, EMT, Human Resources, Safety, or medical related field preferred.
  • Experience providing administrative assistance in a medical setting desired.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
  • Must be dependable, organized, and able to produce accurate results while dealing with multiple interruptions, and to prioritize workload while working independently to meet deadlines.
  • Strong PC skills to include MS Office programs, SAP, Publisher, and SharePoint desirable.
  • Experience with disability, FMLA, and/or worker’s compensation programs desired.
  • Must be able to work first shift hours of 6:30AM – 3:00PM with occasional required weekend and evening hours.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive material and information.
