Requisition Summary

The PACCAR Parts Advanced Analytics team has an immediate opening for a motivated and energetic Data Engineer who wants to challenge themselves by working on best-in-class business enterprise applications, cloud technology, ETL tools and data warehousing. This team is a center for excellence within the aftermarket parts division of PACCAR, that supports the business in using data from a variety of sources to make decisions. 

As a Data Engineer on this high profile team, you will build and maintain data pipelines and data warehouse designs used by employees, dealers, customers and shareholders. You will be heavily involved in developing and enhancing PACCAR’s cloud data warehouse on Snowflake by making data available, up-to-date and usable by multiple stakeholders for visualization, analysis and decision making at PACCAR Parts.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

 

  • Transforming raw data into data objects for use in applications, analysis and visualization using clean and efficient code written in SQL and other programming languages (like Python)
  • Collaborating with other Data Engineers, using GitHub, to implement best practices in developing, testing and deploying ETL processes
  • Leveraging cloud computing technology to support Business Intelligence and Data Science activities 
  • Contributing towards automation of change management using CI/CD principles and platforms like Docker and Terraform
  • Identifying, troubleshooting and resolving complex problems in building and maintaining data pipelines that may require on-call support of PACCAR’s cloud data warehouse on Snowflake

 

The responsibilities of this role will primarily be performed on campus in Renton. The PACCAR Parts Advanced Analytics team, individually and collectively, benefit from collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders in person, and also finds value in telecommunicating days that facilitate productivity and work life balance. We currently enjoy a hybrid schedule that offers two telecommuting days per week. 

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field 
  • 2+ years experience in querying databases using SQL
  • 2+ years experience in a programming language (Python preferred)

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with ETL tools such as Qlik (formerly Attunity) Replicate and dbt (Data Build Tools)
  • Experience working with AWS services like S3, EC2 and Lambda; or similar cloud computing technology
  • Experience with Snowflake or other cloud databases
  • Proficiency in version control through Git and GitHub
  • Familiarity with CI/CD principles and implementation using platforms like GitHub Actions, Terraform, Docker
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
