Kenworth Research & Development Center
Kenworth R&D is a small group of about 30 people focusing on three main areas, design and styling of the interior and exterior of Kenworth trucks, aerodynamics and efficiency, and research and technology integration.  We support Kenworth Marketing and PACCAR events including truck prep and setup. Our mission is to build and demonstrate future technologies including fuel cells, hybrid, and battery electric trucks. We touch every aspect of the trucks and take on new projects and tasks every day, an ever-changing facility.

 

Job Description

The Truck Shop Assistant works with Kenworth Research and Development Center and the Kenworth Marketing department to support the ever-evolving truck fleet. This will include washing, detailing, part installation or removal, and maintenance. The Truck Shop Assistant works with the truck shop's operations and event planners in a key role in ensuring the company's vehicles are in good working order and meet the company's expectations. Event preparedness is key to being successful, these events include parades, school and community events, trade shows, design and management reviews, and customer events including ride and drives. This position is located at the Kenworth R&D Center in Renton, Washington.

 

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Managing the truck detailing process which includes cleaning, polishing, and maintaining the appearance of company's trucks
  • Work with R&D and Marketing on maintaining the R&D truck calendar to support Kenworth events
  • Use tools and equipment to maintain / upfit trucks for their next needs
  • Communicate information needed for purchase orders related to truck maintenance including the tracking of invoicing, shipping, and receiving
  • Maintaining accurate records of all truck repairs, maintenance, and service in Fleetio fleet management software

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Auto or Truck detailing experience preferred
  • Attention to detail, including the ability to identify and fix imperfections in the paint, bodywork, or interior
  • Understanding of cleaning products and techniques to ensure the truck is cleaned effectively preferred
  • Willingness to learn and operate cleaning equipment
  • Ability to efficiently operate hand tools or power tools and follow the safety policies
  • Knowledge of current diesel engine and vehicle technologies a plus
  • Must have or be willing to obtain certifications to perform DOT inspections for Class 8 Vehicles in the future
  • Effective Communication, Organization & Time Management
  • Safety conscious
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite of Applications
  • 50 lb Lifting Requirement
  • Unlimited physical dexterity
  • Must demonstrate flexibility to meet changing priorities.
  • Valid driver's license, Class A CDL Preferred. Willingness to obtain a Commerical Driver's License if does not currently possess one, paid for by Kenworth
  • Available for full-time, Monday - Friday, day shift

The salary range for R&D Truck Shop Assistant is $44,100 - $66,400 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
