PACCAR India is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer (Mainframe) to supports the development and maintenance of PACCAR’s Mainframe applications.
Purpose of the Job:
The Mainframe Systems Engineer supports the development and maintenance of PACCAR’s Mainframe applications, predominantly with the use of COBOL, IMS, DB2, and CICS. The ideal candidate will have a strong development background and in-depth knowledge of Mainframe technologies. Experience in the Manufacturing domain is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be using your skills and experience to:
- Perform all administration and installation functions.
- Troubleshoot reported issues and provide problem resolution and on-call support.
- Analysis, Coding, testing application which involves new feature introduction as well as current feature support.
- Maintain and enhance existing Mainframe applications to improve performance.
- Provide technical solutions to the complex issues of Applications.
- Perform CICS Administration duties.
- Document and recommend Application fixes and enhancements.
- Perform mainframe system performance duties.
- Provide services and guidance on application projects.
- Maintain close communication with Operations, Implementation, Recovery, Help Desk, Applications and Open Systems personnel.
- Perform research and design on new technologies and make recommendations.
- Work with customers to define, design, and propose alternative solutions in response to changing business needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives and support the applications
Knowledge & Skills REQUIRED:
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/MIS, Engineering, Business Administration or related field required.
Technical / Professional Experience Requirements:
- 6-8 years software engineering experience including code development, scripting, workflow, and data mapping.
- 6-8 years mainframe technologies: COBOL, IMS/DB, DB2, CICS, JCL, z/OS, MVS
- Advanced computer system skills including use of word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
- Should have good hands-on experience on IBM Tools and BMC Tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, such as SCRUM.
- Ready to work on on-call support issues.
- Ability to perform all functions of SDLC, including requirements analysis, design , development and quality assurance.
- Strong knowledge of Agile Methodologies.
- Experience programming in one or more structured languages.
- Total Years of Experience Required:
- Ready to work in overlapping shift with U.S. time zone (2:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST) and stretch to some extent to support for any ADHOC work
Technical / Professional Experience Desired:
- Warranty Experience
- SOX/Compliance reporting
- PACCAR systems experience a plus
