System Engineer (Onboard Diagnostics Control)

Requisition Summary:

PACCAR India is hiring a System Engineer to support engine integration activities by defining and evaluating onboard diagnostic strategies that ensure robust system monitoring and regulatory compliance for heavy‑duty diesel engines.

Job Function / Responsibilities:

• Define and develop onboard diagnostic (OBD/OBM) control concepts and functional architectures for heavy‑duty diesel engine and aftertreatment systems.
• Evaluate and implement OBD functional monitors to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and SAE standards.
• Assess the impact of hardware changes and control strategy updates on diagnostic functionality.
• Create and maintain diagnostic and control requirements, functional specifications, and function‑level analyses (e.g., iFMEA).
• Perform engine and vehicle data analysis to support diagnostic concept definition and validation.
• Maintain end‑to‑end requirement traceability across the system development lifecycle (V‑model).

Qualification:

• B.E./M.Tech in either Mechatronics/Electronics and Communication / Mechanical / Automobile

Required Skills:

• 3-6 years of related experience
• Domain: Onboard diagnostics and engine control systems within the automotive domain
• Primary Skill: Strong knowledge of OBD concepts; diagnostic strategies; requirement definition for engine and aftertreatment systems; MATLAB/Simulink; scripting
• Working knowledge of diesel engine and aftertreatment systems from a diagnostics perspective
• Ability to understand and apply onboard diagnostic concepts, communication protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Capability to analyze diagnostic behavior and identify gaps or improvement areas.
• Structured problem‑solving approach when evaluating control and diagnostic issues
• Secondary Skills: IBM DNG (DOORS); IBM Rhapsody
