Requisition Summary

 

As a Commodity Manager, this individual will be responsible for negotiate and manage all aspects of PACCAR’s relationship with suppliers, including the commercial/contractual requirements with respect to total cost, technology, delivery, customer service, aftermarket support, logistics, and quality. Commodity Managers are change agents, focused on delivering the highest value to internal and external customers at the lowest total cost.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in improved supply chain performance and enhanced product quality
  • Issue formal Requests for Information, Proposals and Quotes (RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs), and analyze responses to select suppliers that meet or exceed PACCAR requirements.
  • Investigate and implement new technologies, strategic procurement strategies and logistical opportunities
  • Communicate and conduct meetings and formal presentations with suppliers, plant, and division personnel at all management levels.
  • Travel to supplier locations in order to evaluate capabilities, assess production readiness, investigate new opportunities, improve manufacturing efficiencies and resolve chronic supply and quality issues
  • Travel to PACCAR’s global operating locations in support of the above activities.
  • Administer long-term supply, development and warranty agreements.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Master of Business Administration or related field preferred.

 

Skills

  • 8-10 years of purchasing, engineering, or related experience
  • Experience with part purchasing, design, manufacturing, and/or supply chain management
  • Experience with commercial transportation, heavy equipment, or automotive experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience with Project Management and/or Project Team participation
