  • At an engineering entry level, assists with: Planning and designing of manufacturing processes for a production facility; analyzes assembly, fabrication, machining, and other processes; maximizes efficiency by optimization of layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization; helps determining the parts, equipment, tools and processes needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:        

 Develop and evaluate manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; and soliciting feedback from operators.

Manage continuous improvement activities to improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirement, and equipment layout.

Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities to established standards; and validating manufacturing processes.

 Preparing product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Ensuring test and production equipment are maintained and calibrated.

Perform root cause analysis of technical issues and provide containment and corrective actions.

Assist in failure analysis, troubleshooting, rework/repair or non-conforming manufactured product to determine root cause.
Prepare Capital project proposals, and implement approved Capital Budget projects.

Work with inspection and vendors to assure component specification compliance.

Support implementation of new products as they transition to production.

 Promote and support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities in manufacturing.

Develop, procure, or modify existing and new tooling, fixtures, and equipment to ensure efficient production methods.

 Complete time studies to quantify processing times and identify areas for process improvement.

 Generate assembly process flows and work instructions.

 Train production and technician staff as required.


  • A.S.  Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or appropriate major. High school diploma and extensive related manufacturing experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.

Technical Skills:

Ability to perform all assigned tasks, work independently, and complete work on schedule.
Strong problem solving skills and efficient management of time and resources.

Working knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).

Familiarity with process control, quality assurance, SPC, process and capability planning.

Knowledge of CNC programming, SPC, and Computer Aided Design preferred.

Physical Requirements: A very mobile position requiring lots of walking on concrete floors around heavy machinery.  Must be able to bend, squat, reach, and grab parts and inspect machinery.  Must be able to wear PPE, personal protective equipment required to move throughout the shop.  This position requires mobility around heavy machinery, forklifts, and loud noise.  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
