Requisition Summary

The PACCAR Technical Center’s Vehicle Performance Group is seeking a Vehicle Dynamics engineer to conduct vehicle-level simulation and testing in support of vehicle development programs.  The successful candidate will possess a solid background in structural dynamics, multi-body dynamics, ride comfort, and/or NVH simulation, with a strong understanding of related physical tests.


Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans that define test deliverables, scope of activities, labor and material costs, timing and schedules.
  • Assist with the creation, validation, and analysis of full-vehicle tractor-trailer models for ride comfort, structure-borne noise, loads and (relative) durability of design concepts.
  • Support product development by simulating design concepts and analyzing their impact on system performance.
  • Support data collection to validate models and later to verify predicted performance.
  • Communicate simulation results stating clear recommendations and proposals for improvements to Engineering teams.
  • Manage execution of multiple projects to deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Publish technical project reports to document test scope, methods, results, and conclusions.



  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with a strong background in structural dynamics, multi-body dynamics, ride comfort, and/or NVH simulation.
  • Experience with simulation software such as: HyperWorks, OptiStruct/NASTRAN, MATLAB, ADAMS, MotionSolve, or similar.
  • Experience with test sensors and data acquisition equipment, including accelerometers, linear transducers, microphones.
  • Familiarity with human sensitivity to full-body vibration, NVH in motor vehicle, acoustics, and sound quality metrics.
  • Fundamental knowledge of commercial vehicle systems.
  • Ability and desire to learn new tools and methods unique to PACCAR.
  • Effective analysis and project management skills and excellent engineering judgment. 
  • Effective communication, administration and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage personal workload, demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and the willingness to respond to shifting timelines and project demands.



BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline required, MS preferred.
