Requisition Summary

PACCAR Technical Center is seeking a principal engineer to lead the development of advanced engine aftertreatment systems for upcoming emissions regulations as part of the PACCAR Global Engines team.


Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate advanced technology initiatives across PACCAR divisions
  • Support the transition of advanced concepts to production ready configurations
  • Lead and support root cause analysis for complex aftertreatment development issues
  • Represent PACCAR in technical seminars and presentations with industry groups
  • Collaboration with national labs and suppliers for advanced technology
  • Mentor and help develop less experienced engineers across divisions
  • Act as the technical focal point for PACCAR for aftertreatment expertise
  • Provide technical feedback on proposed product changes, testing methods, analysis and reporting
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop advanced software and diagnostic strategies
  • Maintain positive working relationship with other groups at the PACCAR Technical Center and other PACCAR divisions



  • Minimum 15 years of work experience in the automotive industry
  • Patents and publications in their field
  • Strong knowledge of heavy duty diesel emissions regulatory requirements including diagnostics
  • In-depth functional knowledge of current diesel exhaust aftertreatment technology (DOC, DPF, SCR & DEF)
  • Proven experience with aftertreatment production level implementation and  integration in heavy duty diesel application
  • Must be self-directed; possess excellent analysis, communication and presentation skills; must be organized and take a rigorous approach to engineering projects
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to manage personal workload and have the willingness, flexibility, and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands
  • Ability to travel up to 15%, including international travel



MS in a technical (STEM) field required
