Requisition Summary

This position is for a team member in the Advanced Diagnostics Group (ADG) at the PACCAR Technical Center (PTC). ADG is a 3rd Tier Service Support group for PACCAR Powertrain products. In addition to providing critical customer support, ADG findings help improve PACCAR Powertrain systems, diagnostic methods, and manufacturing.  

The Powertrain Technical Field Support Specialist - Aftersales is focused on PACCAR Engines and other PACCAR Powertrain products. The successful candidate will work at the PACCAR Technical Center in Mount Vernon, Washington. Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center is celebrating its 40th year of providing engineering excellence to the PACCAR truck, powertrain, and winch divisions through innovative product development and testing. Located in the beautiful Skagit Valley, about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington, PTC’s world-class engineering, simulation and validation facility is equipped with state-of-the-art product development and validation capabilities and staffed with industry leading experts in powertrain and vehicle development.

The PACCAR Technical Center also partners with government agencies and academic institutions to evaluate future vehicle technologies.
 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for engine and aftertreatment systems
  • Work with engineering and technical experts to develop and establish detailed information and processes needed for problem resolution
  • Provide direction and technical guidance to field service personnel and dealer technicians
  • Use outside resources and work with engineering and other groups to resolve advanced diagnostics issues being experienced in the field
  • Analyze data from field and warranty databases to identify key issues and evaluate solution effectiveness
  • Effectively communicate with dealer personnel, field service, as well as other system experts within the greater organization
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting to customers as necessary

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Proven engine and exhaust aftertreatment troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with computer-controlled diesel or gasoline engines
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively, including, but not limited to, reporting and documentation of newly developed troubleshooting techniques.
  • A desire to dig for root cause when troubleshooting
  • Organized and systematic, with eagerness and inventiveness
  • Willingness to respond to shifting time constraints and project priorities
  • Strong customer service orientation with effective communication skills
  • Self-directed with excellent analysis and technical reasoning ability
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel up to 15%
     

Education

Minimum Associate’s degree or Technical degree required, Bachelor’s degree in appropriate engineering field preferred
