Job Summary  

Global Powertrain, a division of PACCAR Inc, is seeking a Technical Project Manager.  

 

This position supports a global powertrain platform and will need to coordinate and align with departments within the Powertrain division, as well as Kenworth, Peterbilt the PACCAR Technical center, and other PACCAR divisions, as needed. This position will be working closely with North American and European teams to deliver our future EV and ICE Powertrain.  

 

Within a new team of highly talented engineers, this position will be a part of delivering  the Electric Vehicles and Internal Combustion Engine powertrains for all of PACCAR’s worldwide vehicle divisions.  This position will take a global approach and requires collaboration within diverse cross-functional and multicultural teams. PACCAR is placing a strong emphasis to advance its product line of internal combustion and zero emissions powertrains, and this is a chance to take a lead role in defining and executing that plan.  

 

 

Job Functions/Responsibilities 

  • Lead integrated powertrain development through initial design concepts, project budget and schedule development, risk identification, and mitigation, and support quality product implementations in a matrixed organization 

  • Coordinate technical development of integrated Powertrain systems with technical leads within Global Powertrain and PACCAR Technical Center 

  • Manage and control deliverables from all stakeholders within PACCAR Powertrain, North American truck divisions and the PACCAR Technical center 

  • Serve as the liaison between Global Powertrain, truck division,  and PTC program managers to understand program risks, development activities, and technical issues 

  • Build and present product development updates to senior leadership 

  • Adhere to PACCAR global corporate standards for product development and validation 

  • Contribute to department-wide continuous improvement activities.  

  • Support ASPICE integration throughout PACCAR 

  • Travel up to 20% of the time.  

 

 

 

Skills/Qualifications 

Required 

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent degree 

  • Design experience in Powertrain systems 

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization 

  • Experience in component/system product development lifecycle and new product implementation using established project management methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Iterative) 

  • Excellent communication skills, time management and flexibility with assigned tasks. 

  • Experience using project management tools (e.g. MS Project) 

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders 

  • Ability to work in a team environment and prioritize tasks appropriately 

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and make decisions in ambiguous situations as required 

  • Ability to work in fast paced environment 

 

Desired

  • Master’s degree, PMP certification, PE license, or similar additional education and certification 

  • Experience in a commercial vehicle or automotive component product development lifecycle and new product implementation 

  • Experience using Matlab/Simulink, IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation, and IBM Rational Team Concert 

  • Prior experience with ISO26262 and/or ASPICE 

  • Working Knowledge of APQP 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Teams, and Data Visualization Software  

  • Understanding of Six Sigma disciplines and tools
