Requisition Summary

This is a full time multi-craft position utilizing electrical, mechanical, plumbing and HVAC skills to perform maintenance and repair on engine test cell and building systems equipment at the PACCAR Technical Center Engine Test Lab.  This position requires independent judgement under minimal supervision.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance and repairs on engine test cell and building related equipment such as Dynamometers, VFD’s, air handlers, control systems and diesel fuel conditioning systems.
  • Assists with planning, direction, and monitoring of maintenance and repair activities performed by outside vendors and contractors.
  • Coordinates with managers, engineers and technicians as required to ensure Engine Test Lab equipment and systems are fully operational.
  • Maintains maintenance records and schedules.
  • Maintains technical manuals and updates drawings as needed.
  • Work under the direction of Engine Test Lab Supervisor and take direction from Sr. technician or give direction to other technicians as required.
  • Observes established safety policies in daily work activity to include lock out tag out, confined space and fall protection.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative and productive work relations with all employees.


  • Minimum three years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of complex building systems and equipment.
  • Excellent trouble-shooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems up to 480VAC, plumbing and building automation systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC’s.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Must be self-directed with the ability to manage personal workload.
  • Work independently or in a team with the ability to be flexible as job requirements and work schedules change.
  • Lift and carry 25 pounds; push and pull 125 pounds.
  • Tolerate bending, stooping and kneeling.  Ability to perform frequent work at or above shoulder level.
  • Ability to work with or around solvents, degreasing agents, greases, oils, paints and solder with proper safety equipment.
  • Tolerate hearing protection equipment.
  • Tolerate working in confined spaces.
    Ability to work at heights.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with Siemens Insight or Apogee GO.
  • Ability to troubleshoot 480VAC, 3 phase systems.
  • EPA refrigeration certification is a plus but not necessary.
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Experience with PLC ladder logic.
  • Experience with automation and control – Measurement of flow, temperature, pressure, level, humidity and knowledge of PID controllers.


AA degree or Technical Certificate from an accredited technical school or equivalent military experience in Electrical, HVAC, Instrumentation or Facilities Maintenance.
