PACCAR Global Powertrain is seeking motivated and innovative students to join our Summer 2026 Internship Program within the Engine Systems Verification team.

The PACCAR Summer Internship Program provides hands-on experience collaborating with the Global Engine Team while learning about PACCAR’s world‑class truck brands—Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF. As a PACCAR intern, you will:

  • Participate in team meetings, technical reviews, and department-wide activities.
  • Contribute to meaningful, impact-driven projects supporting PACCAR Powertrain’s OBD technology.
  • Build your professional network across engineering, manufacturing, and leadership teams.
  • Present your project outcomes to fellow interns and senior leaders.

What to Expect

  • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week), in person
  • Duration: Minimum 12 weeks
  • Location: Mount Vernon, WA
  • Start Dates: May 18, 2026, or June 22, 2026
  • Visa Sponsorship: Not available for this role (H1B, TN, OPT, etc.)

Job Responsibilities

  • Execute established engine test cases and develop clear, detailed technical reports documenting test results
  • Contribute to continuous-improvement efforts by updating and refining vehicle testing procedures
  • Conduct engine test-cell evaluations to validate new engine software ensuring transparent functionality and performance transparency
  • Provide hands-on support for engine instrumentation setup and troubleshooting, while identifying and recommending process improvements
  • Perform in-vehicle engine verification testing to assess how key performance characteristics influence customer drive-ability 

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (graduation 2026–2027) in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Software, Computer), Science, or a related STEM discipline; OR currently enrolled in a Master’s program.
  • Foundational understanding of mechanics of materials and fluid dynamics.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with technical writing
  • Exposure to MATLAB/Simulink or similar modeling tools
