The PACCAR Global Engine team is looking for a driven Engine Calibration Engineer to support product development with a specific focus on heavy-duty diesel engine performance of the North American PACCAR engine families. The selected individual will work closely with the global cross-functional team and be responsible for delivering the best performing emissions and OBD compliant engine calibrations for North America

Job Functions / Responsibilities


  • Responsible for developing diesel engine calibrations to meet performance, emissions, and OBD targets in an engine test cell environment
  • Work with a global cross-functional team to develop best practice design and calibration solutions as well as robust calibrations from limit components
  • Leads initiatives to improve calibration and testing methods for higher efficiency and effectiveness
  • Works with OBD team to build robust diagnostic calibrations
  • Provide support to in-vehicle calibration verification
  • Provides calibration support to advanced technology projects
  • Provides technical feedback on proposed calibration changes
  • Provides relevant input to the development, communication and management of test cell development plans, including timing, quality and budget
  • Provides support to the running business group in the calibration, verification and release of running change software releases.
  • Stays current on software functionality and product requirements for the PACCAR engine families. Stays technically current with the heavy-duty diesel industry. Mentors less experienced engineers to help them develop in their career and expand the team’s skill base. 
  • Maintains positive working relationships with other groups and PACCAR divisions



  • BS in appropriate technical field required, MS degree in technical field preferred 
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience in the automotive industry
  • Direct experience with test cell engine calibration, calibration tools, OBD, and engine control systems
  • Sound knowledge of 1D engine simulation and design of experiments (DOE) for engine calibration
  • Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively multi-cultural environment
  • Self-directed, excellent analysis and engineering judgment required
  • Organized and disciplined with ability to manage personal workload and a willingness and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands. 
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills 
  • Ability to travel up to 15% 



BS in appropriate technical field required, MS degree in technical field preferred
