PACCAR Technical Center is seeking an engine aftertreatment engineer to support the hardware integration and verification of engine aftertreatment systems as part of the PACCAR Global Engines team.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

 

  • Successfully integrate and verify aftertreatment hardware during development at the engine test cell and vehicle level
  • Support the definition of system limits on aftertreatment sensors, actuators and system configurations
  • Work with suppliers to develop and acquire limit parts for exhaust routing, catalysts, sensors and actuators
  • Ensure all aftertreatment configurations meet internal and supplier requirements
  • Support FMEA process for hardware and system design
  • Complete reports and presentations to communicate findings, draw conclusions and give recommendations on next steps
  • Maintain positive working relationship with other groups at the PACCAR Technical Center and other PACCAR divisions
  • Recommend, develop and execute on continuous process improvement to improve product quality, reliability and durability of the MX engine aftertreatment system
  • Stay aware of new and upcoming aftertreatment technologies and testing methods

Qualifications

 

  • 4+ years of work experience in the automotive industry
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty diesel emissions regulatory requirements including diagnostics
  • Detailed knowledge of current diesel exhaust aftertreatment technology (DOC, DPF, SCR & DEF)
  • Proficient with engine calibration, data collection tools (ATI Vision, Cummins Calterm & Vector CANalyzer) and engine control systems
  • Scripting and data analysis experience desired
  • Experience with data collection, analysis and test planning
  • Must be self-directed; possess excellent analysis, communication and presentation skills; must be organized and take a rigorous approach to engineering projects
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to manage personal workload and have the willingness, flexibility, and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands
  • Ability to travel up to 15%, including international travel

Education

 

BS in a technical (STEM) field required, MS preferred
