Requisition Summary

Durability testing at the PACCAR Technical Center (PTC) is a key component of structural validation for Peterbilt and Kenworth Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks. The Durability Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing durability testing by interfacing with truck division teams. This role delivers data-driven insights and recommendations to support product validation and ensure performance, reliability, and durability standards are met.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute testing on PACCAR Technical Center’s exclusive durability track. 
  • Coordinate vehicle readiness, adding requested instrumentation for data collection
  • Manage project and overall durability testing scope, schedule, and budget
  • Facilitate daily stand-up meetings with durability drivers and vehicle operations staff to support operational efficiency 
  • Conduct periodic inspections and determine root causes for failures
  • Oversee replacement part procurement and test support logistics
  • Analyze data and provide engineering recommendations
  • Report test progress through daily interim reports and meetings.
  • Complete final project-closing report to document results

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience required
  • 2 years of heavy duty truck validation experience required. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must
  • Experience using MS Office Suite, MS Project, Office 365
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience desired.

Education

BS in Engineering required; MS preferred
