The Drawing and Design Engineer provides computer-aided design (CAD) support to help supply test fixtures, prototypes, and a variety of other manufacturing support for the PACCAR Technical Center (PTC). They perform technical drawing reviews on all incoming drawings – and generate new drawings as needed – to ensure all PTC and departmental requirements are satisfied. This position will work directly with engineering and lab personnel to provide manufacturing expertise. They will frequently collaborate and innovate on design prototypes and other challenging requests and provide engineering design changes and/or recommendations where needed. This role requires independent judgement, exceptional attention to detail, and good time management skills under moderate-to-low supervision.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
• Utilizes CAD software to produce 3D-models and technical drawings to facilitate creating test fixtures, prototypes, and a variety of other requested deliverables.
• Reviews all incoming technical drawings for completeness and adherence to company and departmental procedures and communicates deficiencies as needed.
• Supports engineering of jigs, fixtures, and other testing apparatus and prototypes. Requires working knowledge of parts, assemblies, manufacturing methods, material properties, and more.
• Provides 3D-print lab with CAD support and engineering design work and may also provide additional assistance in daily 3D-printing operations.
• Follows all company policies regarding drawing storage, retention, and documentation. Future potential for the local management of CAD data for the facility as a whole.
Qualifications
• Proficient with CAD software – Creo (formerly Pro/Engineer) highly-preferred
• Familiar with product lifecycle management (PLM) CAD data management software – Windchill PLM preferred
• CNC/machining/fabricating knowledge and skills a plus
• Moderate computer skills required (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and imaginative according to shifting demands
• Job is 10% active, 90% sedentary, with 98% indoors and 2% outdoors
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Education
• 5+ years industry experience required
• BS in Engineering field required
