Requisition Summary

This position is located within the Advanced Technology organization at the PACCAR Technical Center with focus on advanced electrified powertrains for heavy duty trucks. The person is required to perform computational analyses, primarily with 1-D software tools. Responsibilities include model development, validation and application, leading & guiding discussions with suppliers concerning requirements and design details to meet performance target. The person will engage with other divisions (Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF) as well as external organizations in collaborative activities as a technical expert.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc. through innovative product development and testing.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Use system-level CAE tools (e.g., GT-Suite) to develop and improve energy management solutions for electrified as well as advanced hybrid powertrains
  • Guide requirements development, component selections as well as design details for advanced truck development with vehicle simulations and driving cycle analysis
  • Develop vehicle system model and plant models therein in consideration of Model in the Loop (MIL) for controls development support
  • Validation and improvement of model fidelity as well as analysis process by managing correlations with data from suppliers and on-site tests 
  • Report results to stakeholders

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years of experience with 1-D system modeling of powertrain and vehicle systems, preferably using GT-Suite
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of vehicle driving cycle and energy efficiency analysis. 
  • Solid background on energy storage, exchange, and recovery
  • Excellent documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated for challenges and innovation

 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficiency with MatLab/Simulink and/or other programming languages
  • Experience in developing thermal management systems in electric vehicles

Education

B.S. or M.S. (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or Thermodynamics related fields.
