Job Summary

The position of Assistant Distribution Center Manager is one of the most dynamic opportunities at PACCAR Parts. Under the general supervision of the PACCAR Parts PDC Manager, you will have the ability to impact the culture and success of an entire operation, including developing new distribution processes, championing new technologies to drive improvements in safety and ergonomics, productivity and quality. In addition you will be working with dealers on creative solutions to increase loyalty and grow sales, and developing future leaders within the PACCAR organization.

Skills / Competencies

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct all shift warehouse operations in 35 000 square foot facility and assuring the expedient flow of product in/out of the PDC. 
  • Manage one shift and a collaborative team of 9 employees servicing near 40 Prime Dealers.
  • Serve as on-site Continuous Improvement Manager for the facility.  Foster and lead a climate of continuous improvement. Understanding and desire to use data and statistical tools to drive operational improvements using six sigma methodologies.
  • Serve as on-site Human Resources Manager for the facility.  Maintain employee records and be a representative for questions regarding employee benefits.  Coordinate and maintain active job descriptions and building an active candidate pool, including recruiting and selecting employees. Strong focus on metrics and culture of accountability.
  • Lead by example with highest degree of integrity, promote teamwork, and effectively communicate at all levels within the organization.
  • Manage within established cost, productivity, quality, inventory control, customer service, human resource, and safety metrics. Perform within approved Operating and Capital budgets.
  • Manage outbound freight logistics to ensure high quality at lowest possible cost.
  • Manage assigned staff while providing training and development, evaluating performance, and building a motivated, effective team to ensure that organizational goals for career development, productivity, performance management and employee involvement are met.
  • Prepare, direct, and coordinate reports and information for senior management.
  • Participate in special assignments/projects, available for travel and/or relocation.
  • Develop a positive relationship with the customers/dealers and maintain market knowledge of PDC region dealers, supply base, and competitors.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:

  • Fluency in English and French is required. Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
  • Bachelor degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership and supervision with PACCAR or other similar business experience
  • Demonstrated abilities in leadership, problem solving, and change management.
  • Proven communication and management skills in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to manage technical projects, like racking improvement and voice picking within the distribution environment.
  • Distribution, logistics, manufacturing, quality, supply chain or inventory control experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced PC skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access & MS PowerPoint.
  • Willing to relocate in near future required (continental U.S. / Canada)
  • Proven group presentation skills; communication skills.
  • Six Sigma Trained: Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.

 

Education

Required: College or University Bachelor Degree

Preferred: MBA or Master's Degree
