Dynacraft, a PACCAR Company is a diversified global manufacturer of commercial vehicle parts and components sold under the Kenworth and Peterbilt brands. For more than forty years, Dynacraft has provided the company's truck divisions and PACCAR Parts distribution centers with high quality components, subassemblies, and specialized services. Dynacraft has production facilities in Louisville, KY and McKinney, TX.
Requisition Summary
Dynacraft is seeking a Controls Engineer responsible for the application, evaluation, development, project management, commissioning, and system management of manufacturing industrial automation and control systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in Lean Manufacturing, be proactive in leading quality improvement initiatives, and demonstrate success in making lasting improvements. Fact-based decision-making and the ability to communicate decisions and requirements effectively to all levels of the business are essential for success. This position is located in McKinney, TX.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Assist in troubleshooting facility and manufacturing control systems (PLCs, AC/DC drives, HMIs, controls, and instrumentation) under the guidance of senior personnel.
- Support equipment improvements or system adjustments to help maintain efficiency and reliability, following established procedures.
- Perform PLC parameter checks or edits when provided clear instructions; escalate complex programming needs to higher-level engineers.
- Maintain organized records of revisions to automated systems, including software versions and hardware configurations.
- Communicate equipment or control-system issues to Engineering, IT, and Maintenance teams to ensure proper system operation.
- Provide general assistance during installation, testing, or commissioning activities without owning system design or project management responsibilities.
- Support Maintenance personnel with troubleshooting, testing, or installation activities involving electrical or control systems.
- Assist with routine tasks related to the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), such as data entry, simple configuration updates, or user support under supervision.
Qualifications
- Intermediate knowledge and skill in programming with Rockwell Automation Software including ControlLogix/RSLogix 5000, SLC 500/RSLogix 500, EtherNet/IP design and configuration, RSView, PanelView, and PanelBuilder 32.
- Experience with integration of Yaskawa and Fanuc Robotics Automation Systems preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of automated material conveyance systems utilizing VFDs, PLCs, and motion control components.
- Strong aptitude with computers and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Familiarity and skill in utilizing Allen Bradley hardware and electronic components.
- Experience with implementation of Manufacturing Execution System preferred.
- Mastery of MS Office products with strong Windows skills preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Education
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or appropriate major required.
- Minimum of 5+ years of control engineering experience.
- Demonstrated ability gained through 5+ years in related assignments.
