Division Information

Dynacraft, a PACCAR Company, is headquartered in McKinney, TX. Dynacraft is a diversified global manufacturer of PACCAR medium and heavy-duty truck parts sold under the Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF nameplates. For more than forty years, Dynacraft has provided the company’s truck manufacturing divisions and PACCAR Parts service parts division with high quality components, subassemblies and specialized services. Dynacraft has two manufacturing facilities in McKinney, TX and Louisville, KY.

Job summary

The Materials Planner will be based at either the McKinney, TX or Louisville, KY location and reports to the Materials Planning Supervisor. This role is responsible for materials planning, inventory management, supplier shipping performance, expediting materials, and implementing cost reduction projects focused on supply chain optimization.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple suppliers supporting Dynacraft’s manufacturing and distribution facilities.
  • Proactively work with suppliers, customers, production, and other internal customers to ensure KPIs goals are met for material availability, premium freight, surplus and obsolete, and inventory turns. Fact based decision making is a requirement for success.
  • Assist with process improvements and updated procedures that align with Division quality goals.
  • Execute best practices for parts planning methodologies (ABC analysis, cost out parts, discrete POs, scheduling agreements) and forecasting tools.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationship management through performance reviews with senior management, supplier site visits, and resolution of supplier discrepancies.
  • Identify and implement improvements in supplier packaging, shipping, logistics, and production processes; closely work with suppliers to implement lead time reduction solutions to improve supplier delivery reliability.
  • Analyze causes of critical material shortages to improve material availability and collaborate with the demand planning team to adjust safety stock levels and forecast accordingly.
  • Balance inventory levels across plants to prevent material shortages, surplus, or obsolescence.
  • Process supplier purchase orders based on lead times and follow Material Requirements Planning (MRP) messages to avoid material shortages, surplus, or obsolescence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant supplier management experience (strongly desired).
  • Self-motivated, organized, flexible, and able to meet the demands of just-in-time manufacturing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative, quality-focused, and results-driven mindset.
  • Strong project management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge and experience with SAP Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) strongly desired.
  • Working knowledge of basic statistics, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), and operations management concepts preferred.
  • Understanding of manufacturing facility operations, assembly, and the heavy-duty truck industry preferred.

 

Education

  • Associate’s degree in business administration or a related field (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field (strongly preferred).
  • SAP Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) training (strongly desired).
  • Experience in truck production (desired).
  • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives (desired).
  • Six Sigma training (desired).
