Dynacraft, a PACCAR Company, is headquartered in McKinney, TX. Dynacraft is a diversified global manufacturer of PACCAR medium and heavy-duty truck parts sold under the Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF nameplates. Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Assistant Manager is responsible for managing, directing, and evaluating a team of engineers focused on manufacturing engineering, industrial automation and control systems. This role oversees the application, evaluation, development, project management, commissioning, and system management of manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Lean Manufacturing and demonstrated success in leading quality improvement initiatives through fact-based decision-making. This position requires proactive leadership to drive continuous improvement and ensure the successful implementation of production changes and capital projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage, direct, and evaluate the performance of assigned engineering team members.
  • Provide technical support and expertise for manufacturing production processes.
  • Identify, lead, and implement continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Oversee the identification, justification, and execution of capital equipment projects.
  • Manage the implementation of new processes, procedures, and work standards to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Ensure Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes are completed accurately for production changes.
  • Support plant quality initiatives by implementing engineering controls and mistake-proofing new and existing production processes.
  • Actively participate in Six Sigma projects as a belt or team member.
  • Review engineering designs for assembly fixtures to ensure adherence to critical dimensions and recommend necessary changes.
  • Maintain professional communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work off-shift hours and weekends as needed.
  • Prepare and present engineering activity status reports to management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Prior supervisory experience managing engineering teams.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and make decisions in a production environment.
  • Safety-conscious, self-motivated, and a strong team player.
  • Experience coordinating and directing large process improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with or training in Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience coordinating capital projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Creo Parametric, and CAM software.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Certification or belt in Six Sigma.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required), preferably Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or master’s degree in engineering.
