REQUISITION SUMMARY:

 

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Manager, the Facility Engineer will be responsible for oversight of the efficient, compliant, and safe mechanical and environmental operation of the plant facility.  The Facilities Engineer will support plant operations by ensuring that all facility mechanical are repaired and maintained; recommends and oversees new construction and/or installation projects; and is responsible for the administration and implementation of ISO standards and relevant environmental regulations.

 

 

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of plant equipment, mechanical systems, HVAC and equipment to prevent interruption of operations.     Communicates issues and problems to the ME Manager and plant management team as needed.
  • Participates in planning and forecasting facility needs for expansion and improvements.  Suggests improvements that will impact safety, quality and productivity. 
  • Responsible for the writing and execution of continuity plans to ensure continued operation of the operation in the event of disaster or interruption of the operation.
  • Responds to repair orders and requests and ensures they are completed in a thorough and timely manner. 
  • Orders repair work and manages and schedules maintenance services.  Supervises contractors performing work in the facility.
  • Requests bids for services and makes recommendations for contractors based on qualifications and cost benefit. 
  • Assists the ME Manager to prioritize repairs and projects utilized to facilitate facility improvements and or project activity.
  • Communicates with other departments on required support, facility impacted projects, and seasonal facility adjustments.
  • Responsible for ISO standardization for equipment use and environmental standards.
  • Manages all aspects of the audits for recertification/surveillance of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Manages, tracks, and records compliance requirements per all Company and Federal, State and local regulatory standards.
  • Serve as liaison with City and State officials as required to ensure facility is compliant with current code regulations.
  • Documents and retains all regulatory agency correspondence per Document Retention Policy.
  • Responsible for proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.   Trains, labels, stores, transports and disposes hazardous materials.  Works with licensed vendors and ensure disposal of hazardous materials  to licensed disposal facilities

 

  • Conduct and coordinate third-party audits of facility and environmental systems.   Report all unsafe or substandard conditions and/or environmental violations, make recommendations and oversee corrections.
  • Collaborates with operations and other departments as necessary to train and perform audits and reviews for all personnel on environmental awareness and compliance.
  • Update and maintain environmental training materials and records.
  • Provide site-specific hazard awareness environmental training as needed.  
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Candidates must be able to operate independently with little guidance while being a positive contributor to a team environment.
  • Self motivated, well organized, flexible and able to handle the pressure of a high-volume operation.
  • Proficientin Microsoft products such as MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Experience in MS Access desired
  • Detail oriented with strong verbal, and written communication skills

 

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • At least a 4 year degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of two years manufacturing and/or distribution experience.
  • At least one year of MRO and BPO experience; proficiency in SAP Warehouse Management preferred.
  • Experience in environmental management/auditing/assessment/control strongly preferred.
