Ensure that the manufacturing engineering needs of the organization are met. Responsible for planning, directing and execution of all aspects of manufacturing engineering within the organization. Ensures that all continual improvement projects, initiatives and processes are aligned, planned, implemented, optimized and sustained. Develops and leads the Manufacturing Engineering team to implement safe, cost-effective processes and methods, in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.


Essential Functions / Responsibilities:         


  • Develops people to see and eliminate waste in order to create and enhance flows that satisfy customers and thereby maximize and sustain profits.


  • Ensures that all engineering needs are fulfilled to support the overall goals of the manufacturing organization, with focus on productivity measured in safety, quality, cost and delivery.


  • Establishes project goals, milestones, and procedures and defines roles and responsibilities for the department.


  • Leads and coordinates efforts to define capital budget goals. Oversees the process of scoping and implementation of capital budget projects, on an annual basis.


  • Facilitates cross-functional partnership and teams to drive effective problem-solving and solutions that benefit the entire organization.


  • Promotes and supports Lean Manufacturing and Continual Improvement activities in manufacturing.


  • Coaches, leads, and develops team members. Understands the training needs and desires of the department, and implements professional development opportunities that are appropriate.


  • Ensures accuracy of department’s work product.




  • B.S. Degree in Engineering, Engineering/Manufacturing Technology, or appropriate combination of related education and experience.


  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in manufacturing demonstrating effective leadership skills.


  • Demonstrated knowledge of design, manufacturing, quality and/or supply-chain as they relate to our production environment.


Technical Skills:


  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and organizational skills. The ability to manage, and motivate others required.


  • Ability to perform all assigned tasks, work independently, and complete work on schedule required.


  • Demonstrated strong problem solving skills and effective management of time and resources required.


  • Working knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) required.


  • Familiarity with process control, quality assurance, process and capability planning required.


  • Familiarity with investment analysis, equipment justification and procurement, costing methods and value analysis preferred.


  • Experience applying Lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies required.


  • Knowledge of CNC programming and Computer Aided Design preferred.


  • Familiarity with detail process planning, including specifying speeds, feeds, tooling, fixturing and gaging preferred.


  • Practical application of ergonomics preferred.


  • Familiarity with assembly line work balancing and material presentation preferred.


  • Knowledge of machining operations and equipment and with lean/cellular concepts preferred.
