Position Summary
PACCAR’s Electronics Project Management team is seeking a Technical Project Manager – Embedded Systems to lead end‑to‑end delivery of embedded vehicle software and hardware systems supporting the Peterbilt, Kenworth, and DAF truck brands. Reporting to the Head of Project Management, this role manages programs from concept through production launch, enabling next‑generation infotainment systems, vehicle controls, gateways, and transmission modules across a global vehicle platform.
This position requires close collaboration with cross‑functional teams in North America and Europe to align global requirements, software and hardware development, electrical integration, validation, and manufacturing readiness. The ideal candidate brings strong technical acumen, systems thinking, and communication skills to engage confidently with both engineers and senior leadership. Experience in regulated industries or developing integrated hardware–software products is highly desirable.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify, manage, and communicate program risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate global hardware and software development activities across embedded engineering and partner teams.
- Drive component-level development by partnering with technical leads across electrical, software, and hardware disciplines.
- Serve as the primary interface between truck division Program Managers and Embedded Engineering teams to communicate program status, risks, and technical issues.
- Facilitate and lead technical design reviews for assigned projects.
- Ensure intellectual property protection for new Embedded Engineering innovations.
- Coordinate functional safety reviews and ensure completion of ISO 26262 safety concepts where applicable.
- Support ASPICE process integration and compliance across PACCAR’s software development lifecycle.
- Champion continuous improvement of embedded software design, validation, and development processes.
- Ensure adherence to PACCAR’s global standards for embedded system development and validation.
- Develop, update, and optimize Embedded Engineering procedures, templates, and workflows.
- Provide training and support to engineering staff on processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Present program and product development updates to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical), Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 3 – 5 years of experience with full product development lifecycle and new product introduction.
- Hands-on knowledge of software development lifecycles (Waterfall, Agile, Iterative).
- Background in electrical systems, embedded components, or software systems design.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
- Experience with project planning, schedule tracking, critical path analysis, and prioritization.
- Proficiency with project management tools.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to build custom tools, scripts, or AI-based workflows to automate tasks or improve quality.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
Desired
- Experience in commercial vehicle, automotive, aerospace, robotics, or similar regulated hardware–software product development environments.
- Proficiency with requirements management and systems engineering tools.
- Experience validating or testing embedded software or hardware systems.
- Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, C++, IBM Rational Rhapsody, DOORS Next Generation, and IBM Engineering Work Management.
- Knowledge of vehicle network protocols (CAN, SAE J1939, LIN).
- Previous experience with ISO 26262 and/or ASPICE frameworks.
- Understanding of Six Sigma principles and tools.
- Advanced degree (M.S.), PMP certification, PE license, or equivalent credentials.

The salary range for this role is $86,900.00 - $136,300.00 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
