Job Summary

PACCAR’s Embedded Engineering department, which serves both Kenworth and Peterbilt, has an opening for an Embedded Engineering Supervisor – Autonomous Vehicle Platform. PACCAR Embedded Engineering is a rapidly expanding organization that is transforming the way control systems and software are developed for commercial vehicle applications. This includes developing the latest vehicle controls, display technology, and autonomous truck solutions that exceed customer expectations. This position will manage a team of Electrical/Electronic Architects, Hardware Engineers and Control System Owners focused on System Architecture for Autonomous Vehicle Platform Program. The successful candidate must coordinate Embedded Engineering product development across multiple concurrent development programs to meet program schedules and budget. The ideal candidate will be able to lead engineers to deliver critical program goals and continue to enhance PACCAR’s global functional and system development processes. You will collaborate with an international, cross-functional team focused on driving superior technical solutions that maximize customer uptime and operating efficiency. Job Functions / Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers to decompose requirements specifications into product deliverables.
• Manage team deliverables across multiple projects and programs for all stages of product development (Definition, Concept, Engineering, and Verification/Validation), and adapt job responsibilities within the team to ensure successful completion.
• Supervise design and release of embedded architecture, systems, or software components to heavy commercial trucks
• Lead change management boards and other governance processes to maximize re-use of embedded systems or software components globally within PACCAR.
• Support deployment of ISO26262 and ASPiCE disciplines throughout PACCAR, and develop department processes to support wider corporate initiatives.
• Work with counterparts throughout PACCAR to provide a global approach to Embedded Engineering, and maintain corporate specifications where appropriate
• Develop and maintain department and program resource plans and budgets related to assigned development team.
• Provide written and verbal updates to PACCAR senior management on product development progress, program objectives, department strategic goals, or globally aligned roadmaps.
• Actively participate in scrum teams to develop industry-leading, high-quality, reliable electronic system designs, software, and architecture.
• Keep current with emerging industry trends in the field of automotive / commercial vehicle E/E systems, network architecture, and technology.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers across a variety of Embedded Engineering disciplines.
• Up to 20% travel (domestic and international)

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science
• 5+ years of design or validation of embedded systems or software required with relevant experience in the automotive or trucking industry.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to work in a team environment where multiple active projects require effective coordination of multiple concurrent tasks

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Master’s degree and/or Professional Engineer license.
• Prior supervisory experience
• Experience with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) control systems for autonomous trucks or passenger vehicles
• Experience with Agile Development practices
• Experience with automotive or commercial vehicle networks, such as CAN, SAE J1939 and LIN
• Knowledge of ISO26262 and ASPiCE
• Experience with Application Lifecycle Management and System Modeling tools such as IBM DOORS, IBM Rational Rhapsody, IBM Rational Team Concert, Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, and HP Quality Center
• Significant experience with advanced features in Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
• Solid Understanding of Six Sigma disciplines and tools

Additional Job Board Information

The salary range for Embedded Engineering Supervisor – Autonomous Vehicle Platform is $106,300-$166,300 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
