Requisition Summary

Are you interested in developing Battery Electric Vehicles? Do you want to be responsible for critical powertrain components used in vehicles around the world? Do you have a diverse skillset in product design, troubleshooting, organization, and communication you would like to utilize on a daily basis? If so, then a career in PACCAR’s Global Powertrain Division is for you!

 

Within a new team of highly talented engineers, you will find yourself researching and implementing Electric Vehicle Battery Systems for all of PACCAR’s worldwide vehicle divisions. This position will take a global approach and requires collaboration within a diverse cross-functional and multicultural team. PACCAR is eager to advance its product line of zero-emissions powertrains, and this is a chance to assume a critical, highly visible role supporting that effort. You will be a key part of ensuring PACCAR products not only meet the needs of customers but also those of the climate.

 

This position is located at PACCAR’s North Texas office in Lewisville, TX.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Support a high voltage battery system in PACCAR Battery Electric Vehicles. This includes batteries, battery management software (BMS), and associated electronics such as relays, fuses, and disconnects.  You will be a linchpin for a system used in trucks around the world.
  • Research existing and emerging technologies developed by your vendor. Correlate component properties to vehicle performance, and understand vehicle – component interactions.
  • Ensure your systems are seamlessly integrated within the PACCAR supply chain by providing timely and accurate information to engineering, logistics, manufacturing, sales, and service departments across all of PACCAR’s worldwide brands.
  • Own the implementation process by listing, tracking, guiding, and completing PACCAR Product Development Process deliverables through a matrixed, globally distributed organization.
  • Support aftersales service by assisting with troubleshooting using your specialized knowledge of the battery system.
  • Collaborate in development of the next generation of battery systems by providing insight into performance and history of previous implementation.
  • Ensure safety and quality of PACCAR vehicles using Six Sigma and proprietary methods to analyze your system.
  • Lead efforts to adapt existing solutions to new platforms and technologies, ranging from complete reconceptualization to form factor updates.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering, or a related field is required. Masters preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience with high-power electrical systems and/or BEV battery systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of:
    • Product Development
    • Electrical Systems
    • Electrical Safety
    • Functional Safety
    • Embedded Systems
  • Excellent cooperation and communication skills in English including management presentation skills.
    • The ability to communicate in the Chinese language (Mandarin) is highly preferred.
  • Software Testing experience is a plus.
