 Position Summary

This position will be responsible for leading team members to define the future controls and functionality requirements across a wide range of technological advancements, including Battery Electric, L2/L4 ADAS platforms, Fuel Cell Hydrogen, Digital Displays, and other future-facing vehicle technologies. We are looking for a team player who will be tasked with working with several other areas of engineering between PACCAR divisions globally. We are looking for someone who can work with a high-performance team to manage the technology and process to ensure timely delivery of controls and functional safety across the PACCAR global products. The ideal candidate has excellent communications skills, experience in stakeholder alignment, and a passion for implementing the latest technologies into commercial vehicles.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities 

  • Lead Global alignment in scoping and requirement definition of vehicle functionality and controls development
  • Develop and manage a team of high-performance engineers.
  • Lead Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies
  • Develop project execution plan using IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC).
  • Identify project risks that affect schedule and delivery of work items.
  • Champion continuous improvement and process optimization for increased efficiency.
  • Align with cross-functional team members and leadership for development, implementation, verification and validation of current & future vehicle functions & features.
  • Manage short-term and long-term goals for the team.
  • Work with global teams to deliver common, cost-efficient solutions PACCAR-wide (Up to 10% travel may be required).

 

Qualifications / Skills

  • BS in Engineering or related field required; MS in Engineering or related field and PE license preferred.
  • Experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team with several parallel projects.
  • Understanding of designing, developing, and validating embedded automotive technologies.
  • Previous knowledge of vehicle control systems, embedded systems and microcontrollers preferred.
  • Experience software development cycle for vehicle and powertrain controls, ISO26262, V-Model, UX/UI development, requirement engineering preferred.
  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) preferred.
  • Knowledge in systems such as: Simulink/Matlab, HP Quality Center, Rhapsody Team Concert, IBM Doors NG, preferred.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts, project plan, priorities and data in a simple yet accurate manner.
  • Requires independent judgment and effective decision-making skills in a fast-paced work environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of major automotive vehicle systems such as Advanced Driver-Assistance (ADAS), Motion Control, Automotive Network, and Powertrain controls
  • Experience in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements and interfaces
  • Experience in system engineering and model-based controls design
  • Experience in automotive product release and specification process

The salary range for the Vehicle Controls Definition Supervisor is $96,700 - $151,300 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
