Position Summary

The Quality Systems Engineer is responsible for advancing the quality and success of the organization by leading, developing, and implementing quality management systems, standards, and procedures. The position is an integral part of the Advanced Manufacturing team that reports through the Assistant General Manager of Operations. The successful candidate will join a team of highly performing professionals who pride themselves in developing innovative processes, setting industry standards for quality, and providing cost-effective designs. Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Lead quality initiatives across North American truck manufacturing plants.
  • Direct Kenworth’s ISO Quality Management System, including conducting procedure audits and initiating corrective actions to ensure ISO compliance.
  • Serve as the primary quality liaison with plant and corporate teams on quality-related issues.
  • Develop and implement strategies for process control of Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) features.
  • Coordinate benchmarking of quality programs and drive implementation of best practices.
  • Collaborate with Plant EWI Coordinators, Corporate Quality, and the PACCAR Manufacturing Excellence Team to advance EWI performance.
  • Identify warranty reduction opportunities within plants and work with plant quality teams to implement improvements.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with PACCAR personnel to perform Visual Quality Acceptance reviews as required.
  • Participate in and contribute to department-wide continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate status updates through meeting minutes, Significant Events reports, and OPS/GM leadership meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical discipline required. MS/MBA degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7+ years of quality systems experience; one to three years in automotive or commercial truck industries preferred.
  • Experience with ISO Quality Management Systems and Six Sigma methodologies desirable.
  • Demonstrated success leading projects, highly motivated self-starter.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in DFMEA and PFMEA.  Experience with Quality Control and Control Plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Develop and deliver effective presentations, including those for senior management.
    • Influence without direct authority.
    • Manage multiple tasks, take initiative, collaborate effectively, and solve problems.
    • Perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Preferred experience:
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Project, SharePoint, Teams, and Data Visualization Software.
    • Six Sigma training.
    • Commercial truck product knowledge.
    • Working with or in production environments.
  • Demonstrates high leadership potential.
  • Advanced certifications preferred (PE, CQE, CQA, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% annually, occasionally on short notice.

The salary range for the Quality Systems Engineer is $100,100 - $156,600 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
