Job Functions / Responsibilities

Job Summary:

 

Responsible for coordination of change control related activities and supervision of the change control team.  Activities include approving and coordinating implementation of all ECNs affecting KW plants,  ensuring division and department processes related to change control are followed, updated and maintained, lead process innovation within the change control team, and provide a consistent quality check on both Kenworth and Peterbilt-initiated product changes.

 

  • Supervise team of Kenworth change control coordinators at Yarrow Bay and Mexicali.
  • Coordinate intra- and inter-division program product change documentation to enable the delivery of high quality bills of materials and product introductions.
  • Establish agenda, facilitate timely decisions, and issue meeting minutes for weekly Implementation Planning and Plant Impact meeting.
  • Support program managers in delivery of regular updates of PCMS parts status via weekly dashboard meetings.
  • Provide weekly updates to division leadership on key program metrics (projects in/out of phase, projects initiated/closed, PPAP %’s, etc.), and escalate when data suggest it is necessary to do so.
  • Participate in developing PCMS system improvements and planning for successor system.
  • Contribute to department-wide continuous improvement activities by leading change control related process improvements.
  • Travel up to 10%

Skills / Competencies

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • PMI or related certification, or willingness to acquire, a plus
  • Min. 10 yrs. experience with increasing responsibility in product launch/change control with demonstrated leadership success required. 
  • Ability to succinctly communicate complicated topics to executive leadership from a variety of disciplines required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, take initiative, be a strong team player and be a problem-solver required.
  • Plant experience, especially with new product introductions, preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.  Must be a process-driven individual, but flexible enough to know when to take on risks within the process.
  • Previous experience managing projects to a stage gate process required. Kenworth / Peterbilt Tollgate process preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Office Suite preferred. 
  • Demonstrated success working on intra-division program teams preferred. 
  • Experience working with Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering, Marketing, Purchasing, Product Planning, Service and Supplier Quality desired.
