Division Information

PACCAR Parts is the global provider of aftermarket parts and services to support Kenworth, Peterbilt, DAF and TRP dealers around the world.  This includes 18 distribution centers globally that support 2,200 dealerships and over 1,000,000 customers.  Aftermarket support includes world class customer centers that deliver industry leading uptime in conjunction with our outstanding supply chain that delivers record levels of inventory availability for dealers and customers. 

Requisition Summary

This position will represent PACCAR Part's aftermarket interests during all phases of the Product Creation Process (PCP) including Product Design, Product Planning, Supplier Selection, Aftermarket Cost Definition and Supplier Readiness Plans.

The primary objective of this position will be to increase PACCAR gross profits across the entire product lifecycle through reduced acquisition costs, increased market share and lower transactional costs associated with providing customer support for PACCAR product.

Objectives may include: increased attention to lower lever part acquisition costs, part marking and branding decisions, business case supported tooling investment decisions, recommendations for design patents, aftermarket input into future product designs, early supplier communication of downstream aftermarket expectations including service parts breakdowns and illustrations, unique package/labeling requirements, lead-times, standard package quantities, etc.

Position is located in Kirkland, WA and may require up to 25% travel.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Evaluate planned product design changes to identify potential impacts on future aftermarket parts sales and profit and develop strategic plans to leverage opportunities and mitigating risks
  • Identify key areas of opportunities and risk during early supplier selection process providing negotiating strategies and business solutions that leverage PACCAR global business interests
  • Provide aftermarket focused insight and business case justifications during each phase of the PCP Process aimed at improving decisions impacting life cycle profits including part markings, tooling investments, branding, supplier selection, distribution agreements, service requirements, part illustrations etc.
  • Facilitate improved information flow between Product Planning, Engineering, Purchasing, Suppliers and PACCAR Parts Division personnel through publishing key events, presenting key findings and recommendations during key stages of the Product Change process
  • Provide aftermarket business case justification / ROI input during Division project evaluations
  • Develop, maintain and execute annual product change strategic project plan identifying areas of Aftermarket interest, key decision points and milestones
  • Manage aftermarket design engineering resources to advance key engineering activities essential to PACCAR Parts

Skills / Competencies

  • Ability to work successfully and collaboratively within cross-functional business environment with a demonstrated ability to succeed
  • Understanding of key drivers of the aftermarket parts business including part replacement rates, key competitors, substitution alternatives, maintenance/repair practices and service requirements
  • Knowledge of engineering, plant and manufacturing processes, dealer service and/or purchasing and/or product marketing
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills leading to win-win results
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including ability to present findings and recommendations to senior level management
  • Outgoing, high organized and energetic self-starter with high sense of urgency and ability to handle multiple priorities

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Business, Engineering or related field required
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation, aftermarket parts or related field required
  • Proven ability to drive high impact results
  • Six Sigma Belt with DFSS experience preferred
  • Ability to work successfully and collaboratively within cross-functional business environment with a demonstrated ability to succeed
  • Understanding of key drivers of the aftermarket parts business including part replacement rates, key competitors, substitution alternatives, maintenance/repair practices and service requirements
  • Knowledge of engineering, plant and manufacturing processes, dealer service and/or purchasing and/or product marketing
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills leading to win-win results
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including ability to present findings and recommendations to senior level management
