Position Summary

The Product Change Supervisor, with a BS/BA degree and 7+ years of industry-related experience, will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of Product Change Administrators in managing product change activities across a matrixed organization. This role ensures program schedules are met, team performance goals are achieved, and cross-functional collaboration is effectively maintained.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and manage activities for a team of Product Change Administrators by establishing priorities for the group's workload consistent with management and departmental objectives, setting clear performance expectations, and supporting ongoing development through coaching and feedback. Develop and maintain robust product change practices within the group to administer workflow in support of company goals and requests from other parts of the business using Kenworth’s product development procedures.
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of departments involved in product changes, ensuring effective communication, conflict resolution, and adherence to established schedules
  • Partner with Program Managers to provide high-level project tracking, scheduling, and reporting on major programs across the product change portfolio
  • Review and approve implementation schedules, parts lists, and inventory transition plans developed by Product Change Administrators
  • Ensure the timely preparation and issuance of advance parts information to Purchasing, Materials, and Manufacturing Engineering personnel
  • Serve as an escalation point for cross-functional issues involving Engineering, Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Sales and Marketing, and Plant Operations
  • Oversee compliance with the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and verify that inspection results are on record to support implementation schedules
  • Ensure consistent execution of project tollgate meetings and adherence to program milestone requirements across all managed projects
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Pricing, and Sales Administration leadership to ensure accuracy and timing of Dealer Bulletin content, and resolve escalated definition, scheduling, and pricing issues
  • Ensure plants and suppliers are provided with all necessary information to produce new or revised parts and products, with oversight of the team's communication activities
  • Develop and maintain product change procedures as documented in the Kenworth Division Quality Management System (QMS) and support QMS audits as needed
  • Act as the primary senior contact for gathering, disseminating, and escalating product change information across the organization
  • Monitor team workload and allocate resources appropriately to meet program demands and deadlines
  • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives within the product change function
  • Minimal travel required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

  • BS/BA degree required; PMP certification strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 7 years of Materials, Plant, Purchasing, Engineering, or general product development experience required. At least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams in a matrixed organization, both directly and indirectly.
  • In-depth familiarity with Kenworth products and business processes required
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office products
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to manage competing priorities, work effectively under pressure, and drive difficult problems to successful resolution
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
