About the Team 

PACCAR Electronics organization is a rapidly expanding organization that is transforming the way control systems and software are developed for commercial vehicle applications.  This includes developing the latest vehicle controls, display technology, and autonomous truck solutions that exceed customer expectations. Job Summary 

PACCAR Electronics Organization is looking for curious, creative, and motivated individuals who are passionate about new technologies with a special interest in learning automotive embedded systems.  Internship roles in our teams provide significant independence and ownership of projects, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in systems architectural design. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, quick to adapt, and must be a communicative team player.

What You’ll Do 

• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, safety engineers, and other professionals to ensure quality commercial electric vehicle designs and systems integration 
• Follow project management processes to maintain schedule and functionality 
• Ensure industry-leading quality and reliability are met, maintained, and exceeded on all components 
• Analyze system needs and requirements to influence system architecture designs 
• Develop and document engineering specifications for new vehicle control functions, including autonomous vehicles 
• Drive collaborative efforts effectively with cross-divisional counterparts on global design direction 
• Support validation activities across supplier and internal teams to ensure industry-leading quality and reliability are met, maintained, or exceeded on all components and systems 

Required Qualifications 

• Third or fourth year of bachelor’s degree completed (graduation date 2025 – 2026) in one of the following STEM disciplines:
  • Engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Software, Mechanical), Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
• Demonstrate a high level of independence, motivation, and excellent analytical and written communication skills, alongside sound engineering judgment.
• Exceptional organizational, and problem-solving skills and a drive to develop innovative solutions 
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, lean, collaborative team environment 
• Competency with standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.) 
• Able to learn and use new processes and techniques and resourcefully solve complex technical issues 
• Commitment to reliability, value, and quality in all aspects of work 
• Willingness to grow continuously, both personally and professionally with strong results and goal-driven orientation 

Additional Attributes 

• Master’s program preferred
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (MATLAB/Simulink, C++, C#, etc.) 
• Demonstratable ability to analyze hardware and firmware designs 
• Active participant in a university-sponsored engineering club (Ecocar, Formula SAE, SARP, Etc.) 
• Understanding of complex design and application as it impacts electrical/electronic systems, architecture, and software-driven functionality 

Compensation and Benefit 

• The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hour (pay varies by undergraduate and graduate degree)
