Kenworth Truck Company is the manufacturer of The World’s Best® heavy and medium duty trucks. Kenworth is an industry leader in providing fuel-saving technology solutions that help increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. Requisition Summary

Kenworth is seeking a Tooling Manager to manager a strong team that oversee tooling design projects and support the facilities at our Yarrow Bay campus. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities


  • Actively participate in new product development and cost reduction programs.  Use Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools to support attainment of Division goals.

  • Conduct should-cost analyses using DFMA software and provide design direction to reduce product cost.

  • Evaluate supplier tooling proposals including the viability of proposed processes and tooling lineups.

  • Develop and document the manufacturing process knowledge base.  Research new technologies for production use.

  • Provide technical expertise in support of supplier negotiations.

  • Develop and implement new cost models for use with cost estimating software.

  • Participate in ongoing operations support projects and activities.


Qualifications & Skills​​​​

  • 4 year degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field required.

  • 3+ years of prior experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing role.

  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes including metal fabrication, metal stamping, composite molding, injection molding, metal casting and others used in automotive or heavy truck industries desired.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.

  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings.  Experience with Creo desirable.

  • Excellent organizational, PC and project management skills.  Ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities.

  • Training in Six Sigma DMAIC and/or DFSS desirable.

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% annually, occasionally on short notice.
