Position Summary

 

The Liaison Design Engineer will serve as the interface between the Kenworth Division engineering team and offshore engineering manager and team. They will be responsible for collecting requirements, transferring technical data, managing queries, communicating status, and ensuring deliverables meet customer expectations.  Additionally, they will communicate relevant information from Kenworth Division to facilitate both daily activities where physical presence is necessary, and long-term planning to align offshore team competencies with requirements. They will apply understanding of the knowledge, expertise, and operational environment of the India offshore teams, to make pivotal decisions for effective project management. Depending on team requirements, the liaison role may be performed in combination with a proportion of time spent in direct support of Kenworth engineering team as an individual contributor.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Act as Single Point of Contact for Kenworth Engineering team for communication of work requirements, deliverable status, and outputs. Communicates via local engineer manager based in PACCAR India or direct to the direct reports of this engineering manager in India.

  • Maintain detailed working knowledge of vehicle projects at Kenworth Division, understanding project priorities and implication to direct successful completion.

  • Apply knowledge of the project and product priorities to appropriately allocate tasks to the offshore team.

  • Identify trends and gaps for future projects and feed back to management to align training and recruitment with future Kenworth Division needs.

  • Collect detailed technical requirements from to help build accurate understanding for the offshore team.

  • Communicate technical requirements to offshore team leads.

  • Direct queries from offshore to appropriate individuals and feedback relevant milestones and issues to offshore team.

  • Work within onsite systems as necessary to hand offshore deliverables over into onsite Engineering systems.

  • Capture feedback Kenworth Division on PACCAR India performance and handle escalations where performance does not meet expectations.

  • Support offshore team where physical presence is necessary at Kenworth Division (examples: in-person meetings, collecting information such as taking photos of truck factory assembly processes).

  • Build and maintain a professional network of stakeholders in Project Management, Engineering and supporting functions as necessary.

  • Represent PACCAR India to the Engineering team at Kenworth.
     

 

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

 

 

  • 5+ years’ experience in commercial vehicle engineering role AND 3+ years of experience coordinating project teams internationally across multiple time zones

  • 2+ years’ detailed technical relevant experience in same engineering discipline. 

  • Experience in commercial vehicle chassis design and construction

  • Experience in suspension system design

  • Experience in automotive steering system design

  • Experience in vibration isolation systems

  • Experience in minimum of two vehicle projects following the PACCAR Product Creation Process

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask within a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the business.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members and management

  • Good customer service skills and ability to be a good team player.

 

Desired Qualifications & Skills

 

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in related field.

  • Chartered Engineer / Certified Engineer status

  • Project Management Certified

The salary range for Liaison Design Engineer is $84,000-$131,700 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
