Kenworth’s Fuel Cell EV class 8 truck aims to be one of the first mass produced Hydrogen powered, Zero Emission trucks on the North American market. The Engineering project team at Kenworth, based in Kirkland, WA is leading this activity for the whole PACCAR organization.
Due to an internal promotion, we require a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our high-performing Hydrogen Fuel Cell EV Engineering team. They will require experience, understanding, and intuition for the physics of electrified powertrains. This person will take forward the integration of a Fuel Cell EV powertrain, coordination of Design Engineering resources, apply DFSS processes, support DVP&R and prototype build – ultimately launching the truck to market. You will act as an ambassador for the Zero Emissions team and maybe called upon to support presentations of the truck at customer, dealer and exhibition events.
Job Functions / Responsibilities:

Design electrical wiring, grounding, and power distribution systems for zero emission products.

Provide technical leadership on the design and development of zero emissions technologies, including coaching and mentoring, review, and approval for technical documentation

Manage project deliverables through all stages of development (Definition, Concept, Engineering, and Verification/Validation), and adapt job responsibilities within the team to ensure successful completion.

Support assembly, troubleshooting, and validation of pre-production vehicles during assembly plant vehicle launch. Resolve field issues as identified.

Employ Design for Six Sigma and engineering tools to develop and validate designs

Complete engineering change notice documentation to manage old and new parts and use proprietary software to issue part bid requests.

Proactively forecast and take steps to mitigate risks

Manage supplier activities related to design and manufacture of components

Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions.

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers and other professionals to ensure a right-first-time heavy duty truck market launch.

Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously

Travel up to 10%
Qualifications & Skills:
-
BSEE or equivalent engineering degree required; Masters and PE license is preferred.

4+ years industry-related background in the design and specification of heavy-duty trucks.

Experience in the design & release of automotive or commercial vehicle electrical components, including software, harnesses, electronic controls, switches, driver input devices, HMI etc.

Proficiency using Engineering tools (Siemens Capital, Creo, Windchill).

Awareness of industry standards and regulations (SAE, ISO, FMVSS, etc.) essential.

A working knowledge of zero emissions technologies a plus.

Competency in the use of personal computer software including project management tools.

Demonstrate a proficient ability to apply Design for Six Sigma and Six Sigma techniques. Be a resource for fellow team members.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly present status updates

Exposure to Manufacturing plant environments desirable

Additional Job Board Information

The salary range for Lead Electrical Engineer- Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle is $93,000 - $145,500 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
