Job Functions / Responsibilities
This role will hold primary responsibilities related to Field Service readiness for their assigned projects related to new product launches. Working with the Project Management and Engineering teams they will represent Field Service regarding aspects of Aftersales; communicating scope requests related to serviceability, maintainability and diagnostics, providing service related feedback and establishing service requirements to be utilized by the project Engineering teams, assist in developing Tollgate System narratives related to Aftersales deliverables, and have involvement in reporting back to Engineering the infant defects seen in the Field. This role will also be responsible for the communication of service, maintenance, repair, function, and diagnostic information related to the new product to the technical support members of Field Service and the broader Field Service team, as well as participate in evaluations of supporting updates to service literature.
- Lead aspects of Field Service readiness (technical awareness, tool requirements, software functionality, subject matter expert matrix, documentation needs, retrofit awareness)
- Provide technical awareness to the Field Service team related to the introduction of new products, functionalities, software changes, and serviceability requirements
- Work with Product Planning, Program Management, and Engineering teams to define Aftersales support strategy for major new product projects
- Attend product concept and design reviews as the representative for Field Service, and gain awareness of new product support requirements
- Provide Field Service input to major new product projects
- Coordinate between multiple engineering groups so that they understand service requirements
- Identify opportunities for product and process changes that will decrease vehicle downtime associated with new product.
- Coordinate Field Service awareness communication related to new and changing product
- Review and provide feedback for developing service documentation and product specification requirements related to vehicle service
- Support the training department by reviewing new product training classes
- Collaborate with Body Builder documentation authors on needed updates
- Participate in new product infant care defect reporting and tracking
- Travel as required to support regional meetings and readiness reviews relate to new product launches
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Engineering processes and applications related to product development and project implementation
- Effective and professional communication skills (verbal and written); a high level of interpersonal and instructional skills
- Interact effectively and in a professional manner with all contacts including external and internal customers and suppliers
- Ability to effectively communicate technical data related to truck componentry and diagnostics
- Strong aptitude with software applications and diagnostic tools for troubleshooting including CAN network evaluation
- Ability to comprehend and work with engineering standards and drawings
- Extensive product knowledge spanning all vehicle models and functional areas including powertrain, cab, chassis, electrical and J1939 CAN systems.
- Capable of managing a multi-tasked workload
- Highly organized and self-starter with high sense of urgency and ability to handle multiple priorities
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience within the organization with demonstrated leadership success.
- A Bachelor's degree in a technical field or related is required with five years of related product experience preferred.

The salary range for Field Service Product Development Manager is $93,00-$145,500 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
