Job Summary


PACCAR’s Embedded Engineering department, which serves both Kenworth and Peterbilt, has an opening for an Embedded Software Engineer and Integration Tester. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our growing Software Quality team!  This individual will work closely with our VECU software application team as they develop next generation SW functionality to support our upcoming pipeline of products from globally connected trucks to our battery electric offerings.  This person will own software integration testing and validation throughout the development and release cycles, adhering to Automotive SPICE best practices.  This includes ad-hoc, automated and regression test suites, defining the test strategy and plans for each release cycle as well as defect analysis.  New tools and scripts will need to be developed to help support these activities.





  • Create, execute, analyze and report results of test cases against requirements at the level of integrating embedded software modules from embedded software development environments.
  • Develop scripts, utilities, simulators, data sets, and other programmatic test tools as required for SIL (Software in-the Loop) test automation and enhance them across successive projects.
  • Test defects and new features against interim and final releases of embedded software modules before delivery for HIL (Hardware in-the Loop) and System Integration testing.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of testing practices and bring about improvements through insights gained by analysis at all stages of the SDLC/STLC.
  • Contribute to development of procedures and practices that ensure continuous improvement of high quality, reliable software systems.



  • Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of software testing applied to automotive or commercial vehicle software or similar industry-related background.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python.
  • Working with software requirements specifications.
  • Strong computer skills including project management tools, word processing, flowchart/modeling, presentation, and spreadsheets.
  • Willing to learn and use new quality processes and techniques for software engineering and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
  • Willingness to grow personally and professionally in a results-orientated environment.


Preferred Experience/Skills


  • Embedded software development using C++, MATLAB Simulink and IBM Rational Rhapsody
  • Proficiency working with Test Management (HP Quality Center, IBM ETM), Test Automation (dSpace environments), Network and Calibration Tools (Vector CANalyzer/CANoe, ATI Vision), and Requirements Management (IBM Doors Next Generation) environments.
  • Engineering knowledge of heavy-duty commercial truck systems and regulations.
