Requisition Summary

 

PACCAR’s Embedded Engineering department, which serves both Kenworth and Peterbilt, has an opening for a functional application engineer for the new requirement management system, DOORS Next Gen.  This position will also function as configuration management Engineer in support of both DOORS Next and Rational Team Concert tools within the IBM Jazz tool suite  This position requires a candidate with a background in requirements generation and familiarity with software development lifecycle, and the ability to learn how to administer both Doors Next Gen and RTC. The candidate should also understand the concept of requirements organization and managing requirements during the product lifecycle development process. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates should expect to demonstrate an understanding of using a requirement management system, and configuration management best practices, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment. The candidate needs to be able to work across multiple projects and teams, working with various teams across PACCAR to support their requirement development needs. They will also work with development teams to help develop configuration management plans relative to the Embedded Engineering product deliverables. The position will work with other functional application managers at DAF in order to assure global alignment of our DNG tool usage and configuration management processes. The candidate should be willing and capable to learn administrative skills in support of DOORS Next, Rational Team Concert, and Global Configuration Management applications.

 

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

 

  • Support  DNG functional application administration for NA PACCAR
  • Work closely with Embedded Engineering Lead Process Engineer in support of NA DNG Global Configuration plan for NA PACCAR
  • Work on day-to-day basis with NA PACCAR Embedded System Development Team leads and Managers
  • Help develop strategy for Global Configuration usage incorporating both Rational Team Concert and DOORS Next configuration content
  • Work closely with DAF DNG application management counterparts to insure global alignment of DNG usage and processes, as well as other IBM Jazz tool suite usage, within PACCAR
  • Participate in coordination meetings with all project leads regarding DOORS Next baseline planning and requirement version control
  • Work closely with Embedded Engineering Lead Process Engineer in development of Global Configuration plan for NA PACCAR
  • Support the development of DOORS Next and Rational Team Concert Dashboards for Configuration Management information across multiple teams needed for their projects
  • Manage and maintain the DOORS Next project areas and associated components for NA PACCAR
  • Support all teams with set up and merging of NA change sets
  • Participate in all DNG Expert Group meetings for NA engineering
  • Participate as a key member of the Training team with user training material development and training for IBM Jazz Tool suite applications (DOORS Next, Rational Team Concert) configuration management activities
  • Responsible for managing access privileges for all NA users in JAZZ tool suite (DOORS Next, Rational Team Concert) for both the global Production and NA training servers
  • Participate in weekly Global Tool suite alignment meetings
  • Responsible for NA PACCAR JAZZ Training server maintenance, including new training project areas.
  • Responsible for NA Requirements management within DNG

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science required
  • Experience with Agile Development practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Able to work in a team environment where multiple active projects require effective coordination of multiple concurrent tasks

 

 

 

Desired Skills/Attributes

 

  • Experience with Requirement Management tools(DNG, RTC, Jama, Rhapsody, Quality Center)
  • 3+ years in software development testing/requirements management systems
  • Understanding of truck design and application as it impacts electrical/electronic systems, architecture, and software-driven functionality
  • Able to learn and use new processes and techniques and resourcefully solve complex technical issues
