Kenworth Truck Company has an established engineering team whose responsibilities include technical leadership of Power Electronics Hardware for use in heavy-duty PACCAR trucks. Members of this team strive to bring the most advanced electrified vehicles to PACCAR’s flagship truck models. Applicants should be knowledgeable about high voltage componentry integration into electrified vehicles and motivated by the contribution to transportation technology advancement.


This position is within the Zero Emissions department at Kenworth Truck Company and requires leadership of high voltage charging system components. An ideal candidate should be able to understand, develop, and communicate technical and regulatory requirements throughout all levels of the PACCAR organization. This team is developing global solutions with engaged collaboration across global teams including R&D, Embedded Engineering, Service, Testing, Sales, Vehicle Integration, and many others. Job Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise on Power Electronics components – Preferred Charging System Experience
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies in the field of BEV Charging Systems, and be prepared to support future strategic BEV initiatives
  • Coordinate global cross functional team members to solve challenging technical problems
  • Manage suppliers throughout development to ensure resources and timelines are properly aligned
  • Help develop new Corporate Standards appropriate for HV vehicles.
  • Support Vehicle Integration Engineering with Charging System related critical installation requirements.
  • Coordinate testing efforts with suppliers and other PACCAR divisions to ensure performance, reliability, and quality goals are achieved for all PACCAR brands. This includes interfacing with PACCAR Technical Center, Peterbilt, DAF and PACCAR purchasing. 
  • Communicate results and progress to team and stakeholders on a regular basis and facilitate technology transfer between PACCAR divisions.
  • Travel up to 25%.


Qualifications desired:

  • Strong interest in working on next generation electrified vehicles.
  • Five years of experience in electric powertrain development/R&D.
  • In-depth experience with electric powertrain controls and or HV system integration including HV wiring design.
  • Background in system-level requirements development, component selection, integration, performance, and validation.
  • Experience with Mentor’s Capital electrical system and wiring toolsets.
  • Experience with 3D CAD, preferably PTC’s Creo.
  • Experience as a contributor to global, cross-functional technical project teams.
  • Previously demonstrated resourcefulness, strong technical knowledge, analytical capability, and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, be a self-starter and have demonstrated high levels of initiative and innovation.


Education Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Engineering Physics. Prefer Master’s Degree in similar fields and Professional Engineering (PE) license.
