Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and release of electrical and electronic components for heavy-duty trucks within the Warranty Reduction Engineering group, with a focus on improving reliability and quality.
  • Apply creativity to design tasks and propose innovative approaches to standard work.
  • In-depth analysis of warranty data to support issue identification and root cause analysis.
  • Work with cross functional teams on warranty reduction project initiation, design, validation, product release, and field support.
  • Work through the Product Creation Process utilizing Tollgate to manage projects, report updates and utilize Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously.
  • Utilize Creo Parametric and Mentor Graphics to create optimized parts and complex assemblies.
  • Up to 10% travel.

Qualifications & Skills

  • BSEE required
  • Master’s degree in engineering and P.E. certificate are always a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in the specification and design of automotive or commercial vehicle electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of DC power distribution, management, protection, fusing, and routing systems, practices and tools.
  • Effective project management, including ability to manage costs, time and resources.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good understanding of Design for Six Sigma.
  • Experience in Creo Parametric, wiring design using Mentor Graphics or similar software.
  • Competence in the use of personal computer software such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
