Requisition Summary

 

PACCAR’s Embedded Engineering department, which serves both Kenworth and Peterbilt, has an opening for a supervisor of display HMI software development and dev-ops team.  The successful candidate will oversee software development for displays across multiple concurrent vehicle programs globally to meet build schedules.  This will include coordinating the work of teams across all Embedded Engineering locations and supplier partners globally for application software development on displays as well as the development operations (dev-ops) infrastructure that supports quality software releases. In this role, you will be able to lead engineers to deliver critical program goals across multiple programs and continue to enhance PACCAR’s global software development processes as they relate to User Experience and User Interface (UX/UI) designs that the team will implement. 

 

 

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

 

  • Lead a team of engineers to decompose requirements specifications into HMI software development deliverables
  • Manage team deliverables across multiple projects and programs for all stages of software development (Definition, Concept, Engineering, and Verification/Validation), and adapt job responsibilities within the team to ensure successful completion
  • Supervise design, development, release, and maintenance of display HMI software in the Rightware Kanzi environment for heavy commercial trucks
  • Supervise development and maintenance of development operations (dev-ops) infrastructure that supports quality software releases
  • Work with counterparts throughout PACCAR to provide a global approach to embedded software development, and maintain corporate specifications where appropriate
  • Provide written and verbal updates to PACCAR senior management on display HMI software development progress
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop embedded software engineers
  • Up to 15% travel (domestic and international)

 

 

Required Skills

 

 

  •  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 3+ years of design or validation of embedded software required with relevant experience in the automotive or trucking industry
  • Must demonstrate an ability to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, manage multiple simultaneous projects, and respond dynamically to shifting priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

 

 

Preferred Skills

 

 

  •  
  • Experience with user-interface software development for in-vehicle displays or video game applications
  • Knowledge of ISO26262 and ASPICE
  • Experience with Application Lifecycle Management and graphics engines tools such as IBM DOORS, IBM Rational Rhapsody, IBM Rational Team Concert, HP Quality Center, Unity, Unreal, or Godot
  • PACCAR plant and service experience are desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with software design and release, multiplexed communications, diagnostics, powertrain and/or other embedded systems leadership experience
  • Significant experience with advanced features in Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Solid Understanding of Six Sigma disciplines and tool
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Prior experience with Agile Development practices
