Division Information

Kenworth Truck Company is the manufacturer of The World’s Best® heavy and medium duty trucks. Kenworth is an industry leader in providing fuel-saving technology solutions that help increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. The company’s dedication to the green fleet includes aerodynamic trucks, compressed and liquefied natural gas trucks, and medium duty diesel-electric hybrids.


Job responsibilities include programming and operating a Thermwood 5-axis router, 3-axis Milltronics mill, Euromac CNC punch, and other machines on site to design and fabricate truck parts and scale to full size clay truck models at the Kenworth Research and Development Center.  Responsibilities will also include working with the Studio Engineer and the styling group in the design & construction of fixtures and armatures as needed.


Efficient CNC programming, machine setup, operation, and clean up are daily activities as well as managing the tooling inventory. Materials include working with ferrous and non-ferrous metals, wood, clay, foam, and composite materials. Occasional use of typical woodshop equipment will be needed to support the creation of armatures and molds.


Skills required:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience required in Mastercam programming and operation of a 3-axis CNC mill with demonstrated knowledge of 5-axis CNC machining.

  • Experience using a CAD software, Solid Works or Creo.

  • Experience using typical woodshop equipment for armature and mold making;

  • Position requires lifting up to 75 lbs.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Works well in a team environment and independently, needs to be a self-starter and highly motivated, and good at multi-tasking.

  • Competence in the use of personal computer software such as word processing, and spreadsheets.

  • Work hours will be day shift with flexibility to support high priority projects.


Skills desired:

  • Experience using Creo to design parts with specific experience in sheet metal and surfacing.

  • GD&T experience preferred.

  • Programming and operating the Thermwood CNC router very desirable.

  • The operation of other shop equipment; lathe, mill, shear, press brake, welding equipment, forklift, overhead crane, wood shop equipment, and hand tools.
