Position Summary

 

The engineering operations department is seeking a supervisor to manage and lead the bills of material and selection group. This supervisor would manage all aspects of bills of material/selection processing, including but not limited to: work throughput; sales option offerings and configurations and small and medium process improvement projects. This position interfaces with engineering, operations, and change control within Kenworth’s product change management process. Ideal candidates would have a strong leadership background in leading department and division goals.

  

Job Functions / Responsibilities:

  

  • Develop and manage a high-performance team, which includes supervising, personnel development, process improvements, training programs, workload prioritization/allocation, and individual/group performance tracking.
  • Process engineering changes in a timely manner, monitor and correct quality issues with a focus on accuracy, to meet product implementation commitments.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive product coverage is provided. Identify, prioritize, and expedite critical deliverables required from the team.
  • Provide timely (regular) communication of workload status, performance, and issues.
  • Follow-up on and resolve any process-related issues when required.
  • Train and mentor new associatesensuring they are provided with the knowledge to successfully carry out their tasks.
  • Manage all aspects of developing and prioritizing team assigned projects to closure in a timely manner. 
  • Champion/lead projects using industry standard methodology as documentation.  Lean training and/or experience preferred. 
  • Identify and implement strategic initiatives to improved overall process.

 

 

Qualifications & Skills

 

  • 4-year BS or BA degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Previous supervisory and/or lead experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing related experience desirable.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to provide group leadership and management of human resource issues.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, influence others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
