Requisition Summary

Develop, author, and update technical information for technical publications, including operator and service manuals, technical reference materials, programming guides, quick reference guides, utilizing a Content Management System for products in print and web medium. Interact with technical experts for content development. Coordinate finalized product with the publication manager for distribution to multiple mediums and in multiple foreign languages.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop product service and operation information based on input from subject matter experts into a structured xml format in PACCAR’s content management system.
  • Edit content and ensure legal and translation requirements are supported.
  • Understand the technical aspects of Peterbilt/PACCAR products and create documentation to provide customers with vehicle operation and maintenance information.
  • Ensure that product documentation is produced and published in a timely manner and adheres to PACCAR’s style guidelines and standards of accuracy, thoroughness, readability, usefulness, consistency, and organization.
  • Assist with manuals change management system, including analyzing data in SmartSheet with the department data analyst.
  • Partner with third-party contractors on outsourced work, including authoring, editing, translations, and graphics.
  • Contribute to department continuous improvement activities.

 

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong computer skills with MS Word, Excel, and SharePoint 
  • Bachelor’s degree required

 

Preferred Qualifications / Skills

  • Working knowledge of html, xml publishing, DITA, and structured topic-based authoring
  • Broad knowledge of truck systems and components
  • Project management experience
  • MS Office Suite utilization experience
  • Strong organizational, schedule management, time management, and reporting skills
  • High level of initiative and self-starter
  • Demonstrated use of proactive problem-solving approach
  • Motivated to learn and utilize new software applications
  • Must be able to work with a diverse set of stakeholders and manage multiple tasks concurrently
